This policy explains what this website collects, why, who sees it, and how to change your cookie choices. We have written it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at info@activelearnerdriving.co.uk.
Who we are and how to contact us
The person responsible for your data (the "data controller") is Active Learner Driving, an independent website run by a sole trader registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Active Learner Driving (activelearnerdriving.co.uk) is an informational website for learner drivers in the UK. You can contact us at info@activelearnerdriving.co.uk.
What this site collects
In short:
- If you use the contact form, the details you type into it.
- A short spam log, if a form submission looks automated.
- Technical logs kept by our web host.
- Visit statistics through Google Analytics, only if you click "Accept analytics".
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell your data.
The contact form
If you ask us a question through the contact form, we collect your name, your email address, the topic you type (a short free-text box) and your question. We use these only to read and reply to your question.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests, because we need your details to answer the question you have asked.
When you press send, the form emails your answers to info@activelearnerdriving.co.uk through Hostinger's email servers, and they stay in that mailbox. We do not store them in a database on the website. We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not share them with anyone for their own purposes.
We keep contact form emails for up to 12 months after our last reply to you. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.
If a submission fails (for example, a required box was left blank), the site briefly keeps what you typed in your browser's session storage so you do not lose it. It stays on your device, is cleared when your question is sent successfully, and disappears when you close the tab. Nothing you typed is put in the web address.
Spam protection log
To keep automated spam out, the form has hidden checks. If a submission looks automated, we do not email it. Instead the site writes a line to a private log with the date and time, your IP address, the topic you entered and the reason it was flagged. Genuine submissions are not logged this way. Only we can open the log, through our hosting account.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests, to protect the site and our mailbox from spam. We keep this log for 90 days, and older entries are deleted automatically.
Hosting and server logs
This site is hosted by Hostinger, which also provides the content delivery network that serves its pages, and our email. Like most web hosts, Hostinger's servers handle your IP address and technical details of each request, such as the page you asked for, the date and time and your browser type, and keep technical logs under Hostinger's own policies. You can read Hostinger's privacy policy. We do not control the cookie that Hostinger's network sets (see the table below).
Fonts and other third-party content
The fonts on this site are stored on our own server, so your browser does not contact Google or any other font provider to display them. This site does not embed videos, maps or social media widgets. Until you accept analytics, nothing on a page asks your browser to contact a third party.
Some pages link to other websites, such as GOV.UK, Facebook and Instagram. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and their cookies only apply once you visit them.
Google Analytics (only if you accept)
If you click "Accept analytics", we load Google Analytics to see how visitors use the site, for example which pages are read, how people move between them, what kind of device and browser they use, and roughly where in the world they are. We use this to improve our guidance. We do not combine this information with anything you send us through the contact form.
Google receives this information. Google states that Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses, though it does use them for things like working out your approximate location. Google may process data in other countries, including outside the UK, and explains how it handles these transfers. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (see below). Google Analytics keeps detailed event data for 2 months and user-level data for up to 14 months after your last visit. Our summary reports, which contain no personal details, are not affected by these limits.
If you decline, or make no choice, Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set.

We do not control the hcdn cookie. It is set by Hostinger's network, and we will update this table if Hostinger tells us more about it.
How to change your cookie choice
You can change your mind at any time. Press , or use the "Cookie settings" button at the bottom of any page. This forgets your saved choice, removes the analytics cookies from this site and shows the cookie banner again.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, and object to how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, as above. To use any of these rights, email info@activelearnerdriving.co.uk.
Complaints
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site uses your data, we will update this page before the change goes live. This policy was last updated on 17th October 2026.
